Hamman Ezekiel Pwana

Hamman Ezekiel Pwana is a distinguished lawyer, arbitrator, and humanitarian with over 10 years of experience in legal practice, policy advocacy, and development. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of South Wales, UK, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Law at Atlantic International University, USA. He is also a certified Arbitrator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK.

As the CEO of the Allied Legal Advocacy Project (ALAP), he leads initiatives that provide pro bono legal services, human rights advocacy, and legal support to vulnerable communities. His expertise spans transitional justice, litigation & dispute resolution, corporate & commercial law, taxation & regulatory compliance, banking & finance law, employment & labor law, and public interest & human rights law.

Hamman also served as the Technical Consultant for the UNDP Regional Stabilization Facility (RSF) project in the Northeast Nigeria through its implementing partner, where he contributes to rule of law, community stabilization, and access to justice in conflict-affected areas. His work has influenced legal frameworks, human rights policies, and reintegration strategies for displaced populations and vulnerable groups.

Dedicated to using the law as a tool for justice, stability, and sustainable development, Hamman continues to engage in policy reforms, capacity-building initiatives, and legal interventions that drive meaningful change in Nigeria and beyond.

Sarah Justus Zare

Legal Practitioner | Human Rights Advocate | Alternative Dispute Resolution Specialist

Sarah Justus Zare is a dedicated legal practitioner and human rights advocate with a strong commitment to public law, criminal justice, and access to justice for vulnerable individuals. She holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of Maiduguri and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Enugu Campus. With extensive experience in litigation, legal counseling, and alternative dispute resolution, she has represented clients in criminal and civil matters and provided legal advisory services to government agencies.

As a State Counsel at the Borno State Ministry of Justice, Sarah plays a vital role in legal research, drafting, and litigation while actively contributing to public interest advocacy. She is also passionate about legal awareness and humanitarian services, having conducted human rights awareness campaigns, legal aid for indigent clients, and pro bono representation for socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

Her expertise spans public law, criminal law, human rights enforcement, and dispute resolution, with a proven track record in policy advocacy, legal monitoring, and community-based legal education. Sarah continues to champion initiatives that strengthen the rule of law, social justice, and legal empowerment, ensuring that justice is accessible to all.

Jacob Monday Peter

Humanitarian & Protection Specialist | Project Management Professional

Jacob Monday Peter is a dedicated and highly organized humanitarian professional with a strong background in protection, project management, and operational support. With expertise in managing humanitarian programs, ensuring compliance with international protection standards, and enhancing organizational efficiency, he has contributed significantly to safeguarding vulnerable populations.

He holds a B.Sc. in Health Education from the University of Maiduguri and has completed multiple certifications in protection programming, project management, security awareness, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) from reputable institutions, including UNHCR and the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered).

Jacob has extensive experience in protection programming, including capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of child protection and PSEA policies. He has successfully led protection initiatives, trained specialized and non-specialized staff, and ensured compliance with data protection protocols. His work also includes strengthening social cohesion efforts and promoting diversity-sensitive approaches in humanitarian projects.

Jerry Joel Madu

Jerry J. Madu is a committed legal professional and humanitarian advocate with extensive experience supporting vulnerable communities in crisis. For almost five years, Jerry served as an Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance (ICLA) Project Officer at the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Nigeria, where he played a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of legal assistance projects for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees. He spearheaded multiple high-impact projects funded by key donors, including DFID (which subsequently transitioned to FCDO), NHF, GFFO, SIDA, ECHO, EUTF, AFD, NMFA, etc., overseeing project management through all its stages. His responsibilities included conducting detailed risk analyses, managing stakeholder relations, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations, all while maintaining cost-effective project execution. Jerry’s ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and humanitarian organizations, enabled him to strengthen the impact of NRC’s legal aid programs.

In addition to his work with NRC, Jerry has a robust humanitarian background through volunteer roles with organizations such as Save the Children and the British Red Cross On Campus Volunteer in the United Kingdom (UK). He has demonstrated leadership in organizing awareness campaigns, facilitating training sessions, and managing community outreach projects aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. These experiences complement his legal expertise, which includes serving as an Associate Partner at H-E Pwana & Co. LP, where he leads litigation efforts, manages client relations, and mentors a team of legal professionals. Jerry holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Human Rights Law from the University of Leicester (UK), a Master’s in Peacebuilding and Development from the University of Maiduguri, and a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from the University of Maiduguri. His academic achievements and professional experience reflect a steadfast commitment to advancing human rights, justice, and the well-being of marginalized communities.
